Service Versions and Availability
We currently offer four versions of our Internet Call Manager (ICM) service. More than one may be available in your area, but at least one is available in every area of North America.
Internet Call Manager monitors your telephone line when it is busy connected to the Internet. If you receive a call while on the Internet, the call forwards temporarily to the ICM server. The ICM server collects the Caller-ID information and then sends it across the Internet to your screen. A 'popup' window shows the caller-ID information on your screen and you can select from a number of call control features (depending on which version of ICM you are using):
ICM Classic
This is the service that started it all. With ICM Classic, you can choose one of the following:
ICM Plus
With Plus you don't just see who's calling and send them messages - you can actually take the call or transfer it to another number. If you choose to answer, our system tells the caller what's happening then holds the call while you temporarily disconnect from the Internet. The call is then sent through to your number, which is then free. You can reconnect after your call. The transfer feature is great if you have a cellular phone or are near another free phone line. You can choose up to four pre-set numbers so transferring is as simple as clicking a couple of buttons. Here are the call control features of ICM Plus:
ICM Deluxe
If your local telephone company does not allow calls to be sent to its voice mail service after parties other than itself have processed them, we have Internet Call Manager Deluxe. ICM Deluxe has its own voice mail system included right in the service. ICM Deluxe offers all the features of ICM Plus as well as the following:
ICM Direct
Our newest service, ICM Direct allows you to start using our service even if we have not yet make arrangements with your local telephone company to be able to forward busy calls to our equipment. With Direct, you tell your friends and family about a special toll-free number that they can use to reach you while you're on the Internet. They give this number a call, enter your telephone number, then the Call proceeds just like ICM Classic (see Classic call control features above). It's a great way to get started, and we advise you when Classic and Plus service becomes available in your area.
