How can Freei.Net offer 100% FREE Internet access?

Freei.Net, your Free Internet service, is paid for by advertisers. A small banner window is always visible as long as you are connected to Freei.Net. When you create an account, you will be asked to complete a survey that will allow us to show you only the products and services that you would be interested in seeing. Because we respect your privacy, our survey is 100% anonymous. We don't need your name, address, or credit card number, because we're not going to send you a bill!

Does Freei.Net provide service in my area? Freei.Net now offers service in all 50 states! See coverage and click on your state for local dial-up numbers.

How do I get Freei.Net software? You can download the software from our website and have free Internet today! You can also fill out the CD Request Form and have the software in 2-3 weeks.

PC System Requirements: Windows 95, 98, NT or Apple Macintosh, 14.4K or better modem You also need Internet Explorer 5 (IE5). If you don't have IE5, you can download a version of Freei that includes IE5.

Macintosh System Requirements: Power Macintosh OS: 8.0 minimum, 8.5 or greater recommended for full benefit Stuffit 5.1.3 or later 14.4K or better modem

Do I have to give up my Netscape or Microsoft browser? Absolutely not! You can choose any browser to surf the Internet.

What dial-up and connection speeds do you support? We support up to 56K, V.90 modem speeds. We provide first-rate service, for excellent speed and availability!

Can I access all the same stuff like AOL or Yahoo? Absolutely. You'll notice no change at all. To access your AOL account you will need to set up a TCP/IP connection, which is easily done via your setup menu after launching the AOL program. Using AOL through Freei.Net will save you about $10 each month on your AOL bill because you will no longer be charged for connecting to AOL through a local access number. This also means no more AOL busy signals!

Do you have chat rooms? Yes, version 2.5 includes many chat rooms, and you may even create your own chat room!

Will I still be able to use programs like AOL Instant Messenger or ICQ? Yes. AOL Instant Messenger and ICQ will work just as before. Version 2.5 also includes its own program called FreeiFriendsSM, which lets you chat with, and send instant messages to, other Freei.Net users.
(also works with NetMeeting, MSN Messenger, WS-FTP & everything else used here - so far.:)

Do you offer web hosting services? We don't offer web hosting or personal web space at this time. However, free web hosting is available from http://geocities.yahoo.com and http://www.angelfire.com. (Freei.Net is not affiliated with, or responsible for, the content of these links.)

Graphic Ad Banners

Yep... frree... but you're going to have a little inconvenience.   I'm using a 17 inch monitor & the advertisement window is not all that much of an inconvenience.  Banner window is on your desktop, it is not within the browser window.

When it's 'docked' on your monitors screen top, it mushes the browser down that inch or so, the browser butts right up against it for me in most cases. Not really a bad thing here. Desktop Icons slide down too, all are still avilable for a click.

This page displays the top 'docked, and bottom 'floating Freei graphics from a 1024x768 monitor screen capture - docked fits the full width of the monitor and is my preferred usage as it is just slightly less in height.

Bottom graphic floats and you can place it anywhere on your desktop... of course, they both do 'always stay on top' of any other window - you can't tuck them away and hide them behind anything.

Have been using Freei.net since Sept 7, 99 - it works for me & works well ! Times out after 20 minutes of non activity - several beeps over a minute before it disconnects. (mouse wiggle tells it you're awake)

Tried and still use FreeAV AltaVista free access too. My preference is for the Freei because of the fact that it never asks you to click an advertisement every so many minutes like FreeAV will here. But other than that, they both work well. Of all the others, and I think I've tried most all, Freei is the only one I can comfortably recommend.

My paid ISP's, a local independant & a major nationwide carrier/isp and the Free ISPs - all of them each use the very same, thru town, (uunet) internet wires here - only the dial-up numbers & modem pools are separate. All have the same performance here, each with 52k connects for me nearly always.

(why do i have 2 normal access providers... heck - dunno ;)
