You'll want to get your name in & activate the software quickly as the service is limited
& on a first come, first serve basis.
Just a guess; running the little advertisement bar is probably tracking usage so they
can get a feel for what to expect from the initial roll out.
They offer referral credits that applies towards a free DSL modem (worth about $200).
You & I will both need a few willing and able friends to sign up who can follow thru with the 1Mb install and
who will run their ad bar once in a awhile. Once the service is installed - the ad bar runs when the DSL does.
They'll ask for a referral - I hope you'll give me credit with my email address;
FreeDSL@Online.Pair.com Thanks !

How We Do It
Launching in April of 2000, FreeDSL™ from Broadband Digital Group is a new
Internet service that provides consumers with free high-speed access to
the Internet, utilizing Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology, while
offering advertisers and marketers a highly effective way to target those
users.
We offer our users free high-speed Internet access over their regular
phone lines, as well as free e-mail and browser assistant tools, through
our partnership with Winfire, developer of the Personalized Browser
AssistantTM.
For advertisers and marketers, our service will offer direct access to a
large high-speed Internet audience supporting general network advertising,
content affinity, and demographic targeting.
A key component to our FreeDSL™ service is our private labeled FreeDSL™
Browser Assistant, a small navigational bar displayed on our users'
computer screens while they are online. The FreeDSL™ Browser Assistant can
be positioned to any location on the computer screen, but cannot be closed
and must remain visible on the desktop as long as our users are connected
through our FreeDSL™ service. This enables advertisers and marketers to
deliver messages to our users the entire time they are online.
FreeDSL™ users must provide basic demographic and geographic information,
and may be asked in the future for more detailed personal information.
This information enables us to provide our advertising and marketing
partners with a "nameless" and generic profile, which they can use to
customize the information delivered within our FreeDSL™ Browser Assistant
window.
Our goal is to become the leader in offering free high-speed Internet
access while providing advertisers and marketers access to the largest
broadband Internet audience.
Activations, starting in April, will be prioritized on a "first-come-first-
serve" basis, so join our FreeDSL™ service today to learn
more about the FreeDSL™ Browser Assistant.

DSL Overview
A Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) delivers high-speed Internet access using
existing copper telephone lines already installed in hundreds of millions
of homes and businesses worldwide. With DSL, consumers and small
businesses take advantage of having a dedicated, always-on connection to
the Internet. What this means to you…no more having to dial-in to get
connected. DSL provides broadband speeds of up to 8Mbps; that’s up to 50
times faster than conventional dial-up connections.
Your existing copper telephone lines are made up of different
bandwidth channels. The lower bandwidth channel carries your voice
communication (telephone), which leaves the higher bandwidth channel
available for two-way high-speed data transmission utilizing DSL
technology. There is no need for an additional phone line because DSL uses
the higher bandwidth channel your telephone doesn’t. Therefore, you can
talk on the phone at the same time you are accessing the Internet at
FreeDSL™ Speed!
In order to make it work, your digital modem or router located at your
location accesses the local telephone companies’ central office (CO) where
the telephone company has installed a DSLAM that translates your DSL
signal. The signal is then transmitted from the copper telephone line onto
a network backbone, and directed to our location where we verify your
access to our network and deliver you to the Internet through our
relationship with a backbone network provider.
Broadband Digital Group utilizes a National Fiber Optic Network to
provide you with the most reliable, high-speed Digital Subscriber Line
service in just about every DSL supported area in North America.
